PTFE Hoses

PTFE hoses are used primarily in special hydraulic applications.

Especially at very high and low temperatures (-70° to +260° C), liquid, solid and gaseous media can be transported safely.

 

PTFE hoses have a large number of positive characteristics, including:

- extremely flexible and lightweight

- non-flammable

- suitable for extreme temperatures

- they are not affected by aging

- low frictional resistance -> low pressure loss

- odorless and tasteless 

- anti-adhesive

- easy to clean

- very good UV-resistance

- chemically inert

- and much more

This means that you will find them in particular in the mechanical engineering, pharmaceutical, chemical, food, aviation and shipping industries, among others.

PFA HOSES

PFA hoses (perfluoroalkoxy polymers) are made from fluorinated plastics, copolymers of tetrafluoroethylene and perfluoroalkoxy vinyl ethers. PFA is therefore a further development of the plastic PTFE.

PFA has the same chemical and thermal properties as PTFE, but a significantly higher flexural strength and is considered one of the most chemically resistant hose types.


The PFA tube is characterized by its low diffusion and better light transmission (transparent). Like PTFE, it also has high weather and UV stability. Temperature resistance: Due to its high temperature resistance from -200°C to +260°C, this material proves to be very good. From temperatures of approx. +310°C, PFA hoses can also be welded.

PFA hoses are mainly used when working with ultra-pure substances. The hoses are often used in: element trace analysis, chemical industry/plant industry, semiconductor industry, heat exchangers.

Silicone & polyester yarn

PFA hoses (perfluoroalkoxy polymers) are made from fluorinated plastics, copolymers of tetrafluoroethylene and perfluoroalkoxy vinyl ethers. PFA is consequently a development of the plastic PTFE.

 

PFA has the same chemical and thermal characteristics as PTFE, but a significantly higher flexural strength and is considered as one of the most chemically resistant hose types.

 

The PFA hose is characterized by its low diffusion and better light transmission (transparent). In addition, like PTFE, it has high weathering and UV stability. Temperature resistance: Due to its high temperature resistance from -200°C to +260°C, this material proves to be extremely durable. From temperatures of approx. +310°C, PFA hoses are also weldable.

 

PFA hoses are mainly used in applications where ultra-pure substances are handled. The hoses are frequently used in: Elemental trace analysis, chemical industry/plant industry, semiconductor industry, heat exchangers.

Stainless steel convoluted hoses

Corrugated or convoluted stainless steel hoses consist of thin-walled stainless steel tubes into which parallel corrugations are inserted using special tools. This corrugation gives the hoses both their bending capacity and their flexibility. To increase the pressure resistance of these hoses, they are provided with one or more stainless steel braids.

 

Corrugated stainless steel hoses are designed to handle a wide variety of media, and at the same time are resistant and corrosion resistant to chemicals, acids and alkalis, both in the liquid and gaseous state.

They have a temperature range from -270°C to +550°C.

 

Due to these characteristics, they are used in marine and mechanical engineering, the pharmaceutical, chemical and food industries, aviation and also in many other areas.

TefMeFlex is known as an efficient system provider for high-quality PTFE hose lines and stainless steel corrugated hoses. But the know-how goes much further. From low-pressure to high-pressure applications, we have the right hydraulic hose line for all hydraulic systems.

Hydraulic hoses safely conduct the fluidthe system and, due to their flexibility, require little space. The TefMeFlex program includes all hoses made of elastomer and thermoplastic with reinforcements made of textile or steel mesh, as well as several overlapping spiral wire insertsn made of steel wire. Thus pressures of up to 500 bar can be reached.

The right fitting for every hose

Every hose assembly needs the right fitting combination to withstand in the intended hydraulic system. Every application its right surface.

The system is only as good as its weakest part. That this is not to be found in the hose assemblies, we at TefMeFelx always have the right combination for you in all common nominal sizes and shapes (e.g. angle 45° or 90°). A wide range of connection types is available, for example metric, Inch, BSP, UNF, NPT, JIS or SAE, also in the various surfaces, such as zinc-nickel and chrome IV free.

If you do not find the right one for your application in our standard program, we will be able to build special fittings according to your specifications.

Always find the right connection!

 

Pipe fittings are a sensitive point in pipe systems. That is why TefMeFlex attaches great importance to the highest quality. No matter if high hydraulic loads or vibrations - our tube fittings will endure.

We offer a complete range of metric steel pipe fittings for common pipe outside diameters between 4 and 42 mm in accordance with ISO 8434-1 and DIN 2353. 

This means that our products can be combined with all common connection thread types. In addition to straight tube fittings, elbows are available in 45° and 90°, as well as in T-shape, L-shape and cross-shape.

Pipe bending

We use the most modern machines to manufacture curved precision tubes from a wide variety of materials and with all common connection types for all sectors.
Our experienced hydraulic engineers use a computer simulation to determine all the necessary data for the respective bending project. If the degree of ovalization used in hydraulics of 10% is exceeded in the bend area during the simulation, the bend is carried out using an internal mandrel to prevent the pipe cross-section from narrowing.
For individual customer solutions, we can both read out all common CAD formats and measure existing customer samples.


In the field of hydraulics, perfect corrosion protection plays an important role.
In addition to our range of seamless and welded steel pipes, we achieve this through our special coatings:

Compensators made of stainless steel

In addition to our complete PTFE, PFA and stainless steel corrugated range, we also carry all stainless steel expansion joints, such as axial expansion joints, universal expansion joints, lateral expansion joints and angular expansion joints.

Axial expansion joints
 

Axial expansion joints compensate for assembly tolerances and thermal changes in length in the direction of the pipe axis. Depending on the design, these can be subjected to internal and external pressure.
The use of a guide tube protects the metal bellows from abrasive media or flow-induced vibrations. The reaction forces caused by the internal pressure must be absorbed by adequately dimensioned fixed points.

Universal expansion joints
 

Universal expansion joints absorb axial, lateral and angular movements at the same time.  The installation takes place primarily in the low-pressure area.

The use of a guide tube protects the metal bellows from abrasive media or flow-induced vibrations. The reaction forces caused by the internal pressure must be absorbed by adequately dimensioned fixed points.

Lateral expansion joints
 

Lateral expansion joints absorb movements perpendicular to the bracing plane. The reaction forces resulting from internal pressure are absorbed by the articulated tie rod bracing.

Versions of the lateral expansion joints:

  • Tie rod bracing with ball joint bearing for all-round movements

  • Cardanic bolt joint bracing for all-round movement for higher pressures

Angular expansion joints
 

Angular and gimbal expansion joints (or angle joint expansion joints) absorb angular movements perpendicular to the bracing plane. The reaction forces resulting from internal pressure are absorbed by the pin joint anchorage.
 

In pipelines with larger nominal widths and high pressures, the expected expansions can only be absorbed with braced angular expansion joints in the form of joint systems. The expansion joints are installed in the pipeline as a joint system (combination of 2 or 3 expansion joints). These can be L-shaped, U-shaped or Z-shaped. This requires a right-angled redirection of the pipeline. The reaction forces from the internal pressure are absorbed by the joint tension. If these systems are not possible for reasons of space, then special solutions such as  Pressure Balanced Expansion Joints  be used.

Design types of angular expansion joints:

  • Pin joint anchorage for movement in one plane

  • Cardanic pin joint anchorage for movement in all directions

Special constructions for compensators

In the demanding areas of the various industries, there are always applications that cannot be satisfactorily solved using standard components.

In these cases, special constructions are used in the area of the compensators.

Fabric and rubber compensators
 

In addition to all condensers made of stainless steel, we also have a large number of fabric and rubber expansion joints in our range.

Rubber compensators are supplied in different quality levels in standard designs or according to customer requirements.
These are pressure-resistant, highly flexible and noise-insulating.
